Centropyge bispinosa

Common Name: Coral Beauty

Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Widespread tropical Indo-Pacific, East Africa to the Tuamoto Islands, north to southern Japan, south to Lord Howe Island. In Australia recorded from northern Western Australia, Queensland south to northern New South Wales and including Lord Howe Island.

Ecological Notes: Frequents lagoon and seaward reef slopes, with rich coral growth. Recorded to depths of 55 m.

Additional Notes: Secretive, with wide colour variation. Feeds on algae, sponges and coral. One of the smaller angelfish species, it grows to about 10 cm.
