Distribution: Moderately common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Found throughout the temperate waters of southern Australia, from New South Wales to Western Australia, southern Queensland, and New Zealand.
Ecological Notes: Intertidal, under stones to a depth of 55 m. Feeds on sponges.
Additional Notes: Wide colour variation with body colouring varying from light yellow to reddish brown. Numerous pustules (brown with a white ring at the base) dot the mantle. Characteristically darker banding in the centre usually devoid of pustules. Grows to about 40 mm.
