Carangoides chrysophrys
(Cuvier, 1833)

Common Name: Longnose Trevally

Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Found from East Africa to Japan and Australia. In Australia recorded from Exmouth in Western Australia, across the tropical north to Queensland and south to central New South Wales, and including Lord Howe Island.

Ecological Notes: Frequents offshore and coastal reefs, juveniles inshore areas and estuaries. Depth to at least 60 m.

Additional Notes: Usually found in small aggregations. Shiny silver sheen and small black spot on operculum aid identification. Grows to 72 cm.
