Caphyra loevis
(A. Milne Edwards, 1869)

Distribution: Uncommon in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Indo-West Pacific region. In Australia recorded from Queensland south to northern New South Wales, and Lord Howe Island.

Ecological Notes: Specimen pictured found in Xenia sp. soft coral, at a depth of 14 m.

Additional Notes: Superb camouflage and cryptic behaviour of hiding deep in the fronds of the soft coral, ensure this species is rarely seen. Specimen pictured approximately 15 mm carapace width.
