Distribution: Relatively common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Recorded from Eastern Australia, New Zealand, Norfolk Island and the islands of southern French Polynesia. In Australia recorded from Elizabeth and Middleton Reefs, Lord Howe Island.
Ecological Notes: Species of Calcinus are abundant on firm substrates in tropical waters. Rocky or coral reef. Depth from 2 to 22 m.
Additional Notes: Shield pale with orange tinge, claws pale, carpus, or wrist, red with white spots. Walking legs pale reddish, darker at the joints, eyestalks reddish-brown fading distally, eyes black with many small white spots. A small species with a shield length of around 5.5 mm.
