Calcinus morgani
(Rahayu and Forest, 1999)

Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Indo-West Pacific region. In Australia recorded from around Exmouth in Western Australia, the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland south to northern New South Wales.

Ecological Notes: Frequent coral branches, especially Pocillopera, depth from 1 to around 10 m. Specimens in lower photograph discovered in tidal rock pool.

Additional Notes: Light yellowish brown legs and dark burgundy claws, pale blue carapace. Separated from the very similar Calcinus gaimardii by the different colouring of the ocular peduncles, in this species they are black with a subdistal blue ring. Grows to a carapace length of 12 mm, overall length to around 40 mm.
