Common Name: Hidden Hermit
Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the Indo – West Pacific region. In Australia recorded from the Shark Bay region in Western Australia, the Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, south to central New South Wales and including Middleton and Elizabeth Reefs.
Ecological Notes: Frequents rock and coral areas, intertidal and rock pools to subtidal depths.
Additional Notes: Generally dark green fading to white on the legs and abdomen. The eye stalks are greenish red, paler on the distal end, and the eyes are black with numerous small white spots. Distinctive for this species is the purple band on the walking legs. A small species, the shield length varying from 2 to 7 mm.
