Common Name: Black Sole

Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the south west Pacific region. In Australia recorded from the Moreton Bay area of southern Queensland south to Port Phillip Bay in eastern Victoria.

Ecological Notes: Frequents muddy bottoms of estuaries, rivers and shallow inshore waters. Depth to at least 20 m.

Additional Notes: Eyed side light brown to blackish, pectoral fin very dark to black with the tail connected to the dorsal and anal fins. Sought after food fish. Grows to 35 cm.
