Dascyllus trimaculatus (Ruppell, 1829)
Abundant throughout the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Widespread tropical Indo-Pacific to East Africa. In Australia recorded from Geraldton in Western Australia, across the tropical north to Torres Strait, south through Queensland to central NSW and including Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands.
Frequent shallow coastal reefs, often in small to large aggregations. Juveniles use giant anemones and sea urchins as refuges when threatened.
Plain coloured, adults sometimes without white spots. Often seen feeding in the water column. Grow to 12cm.
