Choerodon venustus (De Vis, 1884)

Common Name: 
Venus Tuskfish
Distribution: 

Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distribution in the Western Pacific; Queensland and New South Wales.

Ecological Notes: 

Frequents areas of sandy and rubble reef to a depth of at least 40 m.

Additional Notes: 

Stout body with rows of fine blue spots in scale centres on upper body and tail base. May also have a pink or red spot on upper body toward tail base. Sought after food fish. Grows to at least 65 cm.
