Anthus novaeseelandiae (Gmelin, 1789)
Occupies a range of habitat types from saltmarshes to heaths, dry shrublands and open woodland clearings and beaches. The diet consists of insects and their larvae, as well as seeds.
The Australasian Pipit forages in a jerky, darting motion, stopping to perch on low stones, shrubs or foredune vegetation, whilst wagging its tail up and down.
