Common Name: Narrow-lined Puffer
Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the tropical West Pacific region, Borneo, the Philippines, east to Micronesia and Samoa, southern Japan. In Australia recorded from Shark Bay in Western Australia, across the tropical north to Queensland, south to central New South Wales.
Ecological Notes: Frequents estuaries and shallow lagoons, muddy substrates, seagrass beds, to a depth of 20m. Diet consists of small invertebrates and molluscs.
Additional Notes: Variable colouration, stripes may be very distinct or less distinct as in top photograph of adult. Has dark circular patch around pectoral fin base which lacks yellow or white border as on A. hispidus. Juvenile 10cm in length, lower photograph. Grows to 30cm.
