Arenigobius bifrenatus
(Kner, 1865)

Common Name: Bridled Goby

Distribution: Common in estuarine and shallow coastal areas of the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Endemic to southern Australia. Recorded from the southern coasts of Australia, from southern Queensland to south western Australia and Tasmania.

Ecological Notes: Frequents coastal areas, estuaries, seagrass beds and mangroves.

Additional Notes: Grey to brown colouration, absence of dark spots on top of head distinguishes from similarly marked Halfbridled Goby, A. frenatus. Usually in muddy areas of estuaries and coastal lagoons, retreating to burrows in the substrate if disturbed. Grows to 15cm.
