Distribution: Probably rare in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Known from the Great Barrier Reef south as far as Sydney. Also recorded from the Philippines and New Guinea.
Ecological Notes: Found in shallower water on reef to a depth of 20 m. Feeds on sponges.
Additional Notes: This species is characterised by its brilliant red margins and white body. The depth of colour, frilliness and width of margin is variable. Lays a yellow egg ribbon. Grows to 30 mm.
