Common Name: Australasian Pipit

Distribution: Australia generally.

Ecological Notes: Occupies a range of habitat types from saltmarshes to heaths, dry shrublands and open woodland clearings and beaches. The diet consists of insects and their larvae, as well as seeds. 

Additional Notes: 

The Australasian Pipit forages in a jerky, darting motion, stopping to perch on low stones, shrubs or foredune vegetation, whilst wagging its tail up and down.
