Common Name: Barrier Reef Anemonefish

Distribution: Common at all offshore islands in the Solitary Islands Marine Park, the highest concentration at North Solitary Island. Ranges throughout the Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea to New Caledonia and the Loyalty Is.

Ecological Notes: Always associated with anemones, local host species Entacmaea quadricolor and Heteractis crispa. Frequents shallow reef slopes and lagoons.

Additional Notes: Body yellowish brown with yellow fins. Caudal fin and caudal peduncle white and two vertical white bars, one just behind the eye and the other mid body . The most common of the local anemonefish. Small juvenile shown in middle photograph. Grows to 12 cm.
