Common Name: Broadbanded Shrimpgoby

Distribution: Rare in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed through the Indo West Pacific, north to Japan, Red Sea to Tonga. Recorded from Western Australia and the Great Barrier Reef in Queensland, south to One Tree Island off Gladstone.

Ecological Notes: Frequents sandy rubble and outer reef slopes, retreating to holes in the substrate when threatened. Depth to at least 35 m.

Additional Notes: Recognised by the dark edged orange spots on the head and the red blotch at the corner of the mouth. Similar A. ogasawarensis has a distinct bar from eye to lower jaw, and pale yellowish bands between five distinct red bands. Lives in relationship with Alpheid shrimps. Grows to 11 cm.
