Distribution: Common throughout the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Recorded from the Chagos Islands in the Indian Ocean to Tahiti in the Central Pacific Ocean. In Australia recorded from the Houtman Abrolhos Islands in Western Australia, across the tropical north, the Great Barrier Reef and the Coral Sea.
Ecological Notes: Prefers shallow reef where it may be common on reef margins exposed to strong wave action.
Additional Notes: Irregular shaped colonies, often with thick conical branches at the centre, radial corallites are rasp like in appearance, see bottom photograph.
Colour may vary from bright green to yellow or pink/brown with lighter branch tips.
