Distribution: Common in the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Distributed throughout the central Indo-Pacific region, north to Japan. Also recorded from East Africa and Madagascar. In Australia found from the Houtmann Abrolhos Islands in Western Australia north through the eastern Indian Ocean, the Great Barrier Reef south to the Solitary Islands in New South Wales, and including Lord Howe Island.
Ecological Notes: Commonly found in sub tropical locations, rare elsewhere.
Additional Notes: Variable colouration through brown, cream and green. Colonies consist of flat fused horizontal branches forming plates, with or without upward branches. Radial corallites (on the side of the branch) are similar to axial corallites (on the tip of the branch) and have wide openings and thick lips.
