Common Name: Yellowfin Bream

Distribution: Common throughout the Solitary Islands Marine Park. Endemic to eastern Australia from Townsville south to eastern Victoria.

Ecological Notes: Prefers sandy or rubble substrate near rocky or reef areas. Particularly common on coastal reefs and in estuaries.

Additional Notes: Important recreational catch, occurs in large numbers in some places. Distinguished from commonly seen Tarwhine, Rhabdosargus sarba, by straighter forehead and absence of yellow brown lines over the scales, also has yellow pectoral fin. Grows to about 4kg and 65cm.
