Bruce Gilchrist and Elaine Kwee will be speaking at our next social meeting on the STARR project, Scientific Trial Active Reef Rehabilitation which takes place every year at a rural village on the north coast of Bali. STARR is working with Sea Communities, a grass root organisation and the local fishing village to rehabilitate the coral which was previously devastated by cyanide fishing.
Elaine is responsible for organising this exciting project and Bruce was a volunteer who participated in the research and rehabilitation of the reefs.
STARR’s next annual expedition will be from the 20th to the 28th July 2017. If you are interested in participating in the research, this meeting will be a great chance to find out about what’s involved.
The presentation will be followed by tea and coffee and a chance to catch up with other SURG members.
