The final report of the Community action blueprint to enhance estuarine habitat resilience is now available. This huge project involved:
- mapping seagrass beds
- assessing fish diversity
- quantifying the impact of debris and mud crab trap
- conducting remediation work
All these activities contributed to the development of interpretive panels and fact sheets that highlight specific threats to specific northern NSW estuaries.
This was a truly community based project with participants from SURG and locals in the community who recognised the significance of our estuaries to the overall aquatic environment.
Particular thanks go to Steve Dalton and Mel Buhler who spent endless hours instigating and coordinating the research, gathering and evaluating the data, writing reports and generally keeping this wide ranging project on track.
