Distribution:  Live specimens rarely found in the SIMP. Ranges throughout the Indo-Pacific region. There are several geographic variations.
Ecological Notes:  Generally a shallow water species found from the low tide mark to at least 10m on rocky reef.
Additional Notes:  The mantle is a mottled purple-brown colour. Papillae are very thick and fleshy. Dorsal surface of the shell is red-brown with fine white spots and the underside is orange-brown. Grows to 30mm.
